Avenue, What is it and who’s behind? – Avenue is a clothing line that was created in December 2012 and got it’s first collection in New Year 2013. We, Espen Follestad and Gustaf Gyllenhammar, produce basic garments of high quality and stylish design.
Tell us a bit about the original idea behind the concept. – The idea is something that has built up over many years in the music and textile industry. We saw us tired of band-shirts in poor quality and poor fits, and we felt a lack of good design in basic clothing here, in Norway. Music and fashion have always gone hand in hand, so we saw this as a way to unite the two in one. We make high quality garments with fine cut that will hold up over time.
What differentiates you from other brands such as American Apparel? – Quality, design, and that we do everything ourselves. You notice the difference from other brands by touching our garments.
What inspires you? – All we seek in life around us: music, subculture and the basic idea of a good shape and a good cut on a single basic garment for us is an important sources of inspiration. We put time and energy into details that enhances the quality of the product and is a constant motivation and inspiration.
Where do you get hold of garments? – Garments are available through our online store, and in late August be found in some stores in Oslo ( Norway ). We have a collection of winter and a small summer collection out now, available in the online store. Designer Ingvild Abrahamsen designed a special dress for women that are also for sale. In the fall and winter comes a larger collection including sweatshirts and sweatpants.
What are your future plans? -Establishing Avenue as a brand synonymous with high quality and good design in the best DIY spirit. As of today, we want to keep the line we have started and become the best at what we do by perfecting our garments, while expanding collection and a price ratio contrast to the much tame there.
