After her singles Warm Skin and Hard Love, TallSaint built Skin Deep, a trance-like track with pulsating synths building up to realease a dark-waved noise.
Inspired by Rachel Weisz’s dance scene in The Favourite, Tallsaint imagined “two people that don’t like each other but have to dance together for whatever reason.”
Artificial synths allow Louisa to parallel the pretence: “The notion of it all will only ever be skin deep, playing pretend since you’d never dance with this person out of choice, but now, uncomfortably, you’re just that little bit closer.” The result is a cutting disco track, in the arena of St. Vincent and Lykke Li.
As main tour support for Woman’s Hour’s March UK dates, Tallsaint also supported Self Esteem at Plug in her hometown of Sheffield and features on BBC Introducing’s Hot List with support at BBC 6Music. She is now preparing for her first headline shows.
‘Skin Deep’ is available on all platforms from 13th June, ‘Hard Love’ EP out 16th July via Dance to the Radio.
