Flanelle Magazine Issue 24 – The Reflection Edition

”In the midst of summer, the team and I started brainstorming on ideas for the October theme issue. Through our discussions,we felt as our year has been filled with introspections and retrospections. It’s also been such an eventful summer that it made it us think and reflect about the past, present and future. We wanted to integrate that mindset in our issue and decided to create the Reflection issue.

On a philosophical level, the word reflection can mean fundamental assumptions and beliefs in yourself. It’s an internal coherence of your being and what it projects to the world. One of my favorite lyrics from a Nine Inch Nails song says : Are you sure what side of the glass you are on ? (…) And if you look at your reflection, is it all you want to be ? What if you could look right through the cracks, Would you find yourself afraid to see ? ”

We wanted to discover the people that make us ponder in a new light in this world. We were blessed with an exclusive interview with Ionna Lee, that you may know from her amazing electronic pop audiovisual project iamamiwhoami. You will also be able to discover the actor on our Cover, Joshua Bassett, that you may know from High School Musical The Series, and also discover make-up artist and producer Tetiana Kazak and photographer Isabelle Paradis. From Sweden, to Kiev, to Canada and USA, our minds were still connected and put together in this issue.

The reflection theme also made for an interesting visual playground for our many photographers and creative teams around the globe. From mirrors to water and glitter, we hope this issue brings you joy, inspiration and perspective you needed. Enjoy!” – Sarah-Eve Leduc, Edit-In Chief
