Do you remember the 1998 film “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” by Terry Gilliam? A film that deals with excessive drug use and the constant pressure to be present and active. It leaves me with a feeling of being overstrained, and between the lines, I can see the parallels with the post-pandemic FoMo syndrome “The Fear of Missing Out” or constant worry that somewhere else might be better than where you are. The basic human need for companionship is intertwined with a fear of being among people again and coupled with the pressure of having to make up lost time. A spongy feeling similar to when the days mixed into a single mush during the hard lockdown. I drew inspiration for the design language from this conglomerate. During the design process I was very happy to work with several local artists. The photoshoot was a collaboration between fashion design and fashion journalism students from “AMD, Akademie Mode Und Design, Hamburg”.
