Annelise Michelson – Daring Decadence

Daring Decadence

Text by Stephanie Casarotto

Annelise Michelson, graduate from l’École Chambre Syndicale in Paris, and jeweler extraordinaire has made it big in the world of accessories. After designing for anyone from Hermes to Paul and Joe, Michelson deems her claim to fame was by accident. The Parisian native did not intend on working with accessories, her first dream was to work in Haute Couture. These dreams quickly left, when the industry had taken a turn for the worst. She then turned to Hermes, and free lancing to pass the time – taking every job she was offered. It was not until a friend of hers was doing a shoot with Carine Roitfeld, and demanded she make some accessories for her. Her love for handcrafted jewelry suddenly grew larger then her love for clothing, it also helped that everyone adored the pieces she sent.

Today she is known for her handcrafted one a kind pieces. Notorious for the ear cuff and her rugged and sculptural pieces, Annelise stated she never wants to create something that has been done before. Her newest collection is crafted with silicone dipped lace. A technique used only when composing Haute Couture clothing-one that has never been done before with jewelry. She also introduced gunmetal to her looks, with both a tough and organic figure. The necklaces come in a variety of colors from cobalt blue to neon green, and have a bib like appearance. The necklace in itself is ultra feminine and super trendy. Michelsons approach to accessories gives us means to keep her on the radar for this summers trendsetting looks.
