That the dutch streetwear brand La Fam Amsterdam is making their mark in the fashion industry isn’t new. The brand is slowly but surely creating a bigger fanbase in countries all over the world. With their influence on the streetwear branche as is, they are getting people be bolder and wear more colour. La Fam was started by the siblings Anna and Renze van Jaarsveld, their focus and goal being to bring creatives within different disciplines from all over the world together, the brand has worked with bigger artists like NSG, Dorian Electra and Angelé to smaller artists like Lola Lolita, Yurufuwagang and Alicia Drayton.
Future
La Fam has a bright future ahead of them, no doubt, but what is their view on the future of fashion and on how they will fit in that picture? The goal is to connect the creatives from all over the world, from the young starting ones to the established creatives and artists. LF works with a small team of young artists and creatives, their employees being part of the family is something that they hold on to dearly. Next to working hard and creating pieces that make people feel in tune with their creativity and stepping outside of their comfort zone, the way La Fam makes bonds all over the world is to connect through collaborations in different countries. From the young designer Dutreuil in France to the Indie band Easy Life in the UK.
Working together
Competition is something the brand doesn’t feel within their values. Working together should be the way to go, and La Fam feels that rivalry shouldn’t be in the creative industry since we can all work together and learn from each other. There is so much going on in the world that would pin the creatives against each other, LF feels this is the time to stick together and help each other grow. Especially coming from The Netherlands, where a lot of great streetwear brands are born, La Fam thinks working close with others is very important.
Embrace your inner child
Next to creating connections and bringing creatives together they also feel that people should be more daring and play within their style. In a world where we are taught to not to seek attention and act “normal” they tell their fans to stand out. We all have to embrace our inner child and wear the colours we used to love when we were younger and didn’t care about what other thought of us.
In our opinion La Fam is slowly, together with creatives from all over the world, taking over. Through love, friendship and creativity.
