My Honest Review of the LYMA Laser: Is the $2,695 Celeb-Loved Device Worth It?

In the pursuit of flawless skin, a tool promising professional-grade results in the comfort of your home seems like a utopia. There are certain things a beauty enthusiast should never admit: skipping sunscreen, neglecting night cream, or not bothering with the latest skincare gadget. I’ll confess – the third has always been a blind spot in my routine. I’m the first to rave about retinol and be the guinea pig for new facials, but ask me about the best at-home devices and I’d shrug, suggesting you visit a clinic instead.

While there’s an array of skincare gadgets out there, they often fall short compared to the high-tech lasers and LED masks in a dermatologist’s office. They can also be quite time-consuming, and as someone juggling a full-time job ( or two… ) and multiple responsibilities, time is as tight as ever. With celebrities like Hailey Bieber, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Sofia Richie endorsing it, it seemed like a no-brainer to embark on a journey to see if this luxurious device lives up to its claims and transforms my skin.

How the Laser Works

The LYMA Laser is the world’s first medical-grade at-home laser device, designed to rejuvenate and enhance skin appearance using low-level light therapy (LLLT), combining four high-powered antibacterial LED lights with a laser beam. This technology is designed to penetrate deeply into the skin, stimulating regeneration at the cellular level. Unlike traditional laser treatments that can be painful and invasive, the LYMA Laser is painless, non-invasive, and suitable for all skin types, improving elasticity, texture, and tone.

Employing cold, near-infrared light, the LYMA Laser penetrates the skin without causing thermal damage. This light is absorbed by the mitochondria in the cells, promoting tissue repair and healing. (This is where I personally saw the most results.) This interaction of light boosts collagen and elastin production, reduces inflammation, heals soft tissue, and has been shown to have beneficial effects on wrinkles, acne scars, and the healing of burns. It sounds too good to be true, right?

Originating from medical research in the 1960s, LLLT was discovered to aid in wound healing and cartilage regeneration. What they realized while doing this was that the skin of patients healed much faster and looked better. Although the device does not match the potency of in-office treatments, which are substantially more powerful, it still gives an amazing opportunity to treat your skin at home while doing other tasks (watching your favorite TV show or reading your favorite blog, for instance).

The LYMA Laser starter kit, priced at $2,695, is undeniably a significant investment. The kit includes the laser device and a 30-day supply of Oxygen Mist and Glide Serum, with monthly refills available at $149. That being said, I have used both the Mist and Glide for approximately 3 months if using the minimum amount. You can also use other mists and serums while using the laser. While the initial cost is steep, the brand claims the device will last for ten years and comes with a two-year warranty. That being said, if you follow a strict regimen with both the laser and the refills, the treatment comes to about $2,000 per year.

My Experience Using the LYMA Laser

The starter kit comes in this absolutely beautiful black box and contains your laser, the Mist spray, the Glide Serum, an authencity card, 5 cleansing sponges your battery charger and a cleaning cloth. The mist felt like a refreshing, super-oxygenated water spray, fresh and moisturizing. The glide, reminiscent of a lubricant, didn’t absorb into my skin like a serum but ensured the laser moved smoothly, particularly over sensitive areas like under the eyes.

Before starting my regimen, I had a consultation with a LYMA expert. My main concern was the possibility of side effects from prolonged use. I was relieved to learn that there are no adverse effects, even with extended use. This reassurance gave me the confidence to use the device daily.

Excited to begin, I dedicated 30 minutes each evening to the LYMA Laser. I divided my time into 15 minutes per side of my face, also targeting specific areas needing extra care, such as redness from cystic acne and wrinkle lines, spending an additional three minutes on these spots. Initially, my skin appeared tired and dry, but I soon noticed significant improvements. The most notable change was the increased circulation, which made my skin look more vibrant and uplifted. Pimples and redness healed faster with the laser than they did before, and my skin felt more hydrated and healthier overall.

The mist provided a fresh, invigorating feeling, while the glide helped the laser move effortlessly over my skin. It felt moisturized and provided me with a glow. This combination created a soothing ritual that became a cherished part of my nightly routine. Consistency proved to be key in achieving and maintaining these results. I observed that skipping the laser during work trips led to a quick return to my skin’s previous state. This highlighted the importance of daily use to sustain the benefits of the LYMA Laser.

My Honest Thoughts

Overall, I found the LYMA Laser to be a valuable addition to my skincare routine. It delivered subtle but noticeable improvements in my skin’s appearance, provided I used it consistently. My skin felt more hydrated and looked better overall. The commitment required for daily use was worth it for the results I achieved, but the downside of not using it for a few days was noticeable.

The main caveat ; The LYMA Laser is an investment, both in terms of time and money. If money is no issue, than it’s definitely worth it. And for those committed to their skincare and seeking gradual, noticeable improvements, it’s a worthwhile tool. If the price tag is a concern, there are alternative at-home devices, LED masks, and LED panels, that may not penetrate as deeply but can still offer some skin benefits. One of the aspects I appreciated most about the LYMA Laser was its ease of use. The device is handheld and portable, allowing me to use it while watching TV or relaxing on the sofa. The lack of side effects and the ability to use it without goggles made the experience hassle-free and enjoyable.

Conclusion

Whether you’re battling acne, seeking to reduce wrinkles, or simply aiming for a healthier complexion, this innovative device offers a promising solution. The LYMA Laser has become a staple in my skincare routine, offering a powerful, non-invasive solution for various skin concerns. While it requires a commitment to daily use, the results are rewarding for those willing to invest in their skin’s health. For anyone serious about enhancing their skincare regimen, the LYMA Laser is definitely worth exploring.
