POSTER GIRL’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection introduces a series of looks inspired by nymph-like creatures and young lovers, paying homage to Titania and Helena, from Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ whilst this season’s track was ‘The Boy and The Tree’ by Susumu Yokota.
Whilst to date POSTER GIRL are renowned for their structured chainmail designs, this season Co-Founders Francesca Capper and Natasha Somerville, display more flowing and organic forms, developed using a hand marbling technique that involves an intricate dye process on their signature material – these new technological advances become the next phase of ‘POSTER GIRL’. This marbling technique has been developed further with the first-ever brand inclusion of custom ‘Flatpack Handbags’ embellished with gold plated hardware. Spring/Summer 20 becomes a collection of thousands of hand-cut organza pieces for ‘feather’ style boas and hand-linked chain mail.
Stepping up the luxuriousness of the collection with 14K gold plated engraved hardware across buckles and straps, coupled with the use of fine mesh frill trims and crystal beads, Spring/Summer 20 marks a step towards sophistication for the brand. For only the second time, POSTER GIRL showcase silk garments and chiffon pieces within the collection, offering a lighter, more feminine edge than ever seen before. This season boasts an extended category offering including a broad range of separates along an enhanced offering of cutaway dresses and slinky silhouettes.
Debuting for Spring/Summer are naturalistic illusions such as the murmurations of birds, to generate POSTER GIRL’s first foray into print since their much-coveted Pacha collaboration, whilst this seasons colour palette is lifted from natural influences – vibrant Citrine and Jade contrasted with rich shades of Gold and Bronze. Also new for 2020, a series of knitwear, embellished using the POSTER GIRL signature crystal beading on-top of crocheted knits.
To complete this show collection POSTER GIRL collaborated with Kalda footwear to feature within the presentation on a series of limited edition emblazoned shoes.
