At Paris Fashion Week, the New York-based company SISIO debuted their Fall/Winter 2023 line. The collection honours the therapeutic properties of natural crystals and the knowledge and teachings of the Heart Sutra via a highly personal and introspective journey. Charlotte Shao, the company’s founder and designer, drew inspiration from her own experience with bipolar disorder and spent a lot of time reading the Heart Sutra and gathering natural crystals. The latest collection combines garments with natural crystals’ asymmetrical forms without adding bulk or taking away from the gems’ inherent beauty.
In addition, the brand collaborated with Rita Zhou to create jewellery that matches the clothes by using crystal balls. Natural Southeast Asian banana leaves were used to create the fabric, together with rice paper cloth and handwritten Chinese calligraphy designs. This season’s presentation features a lot of Chinese calligraphy patterns, along with ruffled, asymmetrical, and deconstructed designs to complete the blend of traditional components with modern style.
