The beauty industry is an extraordinary force, captivating millions with its ever-evolving trends and innovations. In recent years, a cultural phenomenon has risen; beauty mania. It has taken hold, reflecting society’s growing fascination with aesthetics. But what exactly does this term mean? At its core, it represents the enthusiasm and drive to celebrate beauty in all its forms. So significant is this movement that beauty now ranks among the top three most influential industries worldwide. Roberta Creek, Social Media Manager at Morellato Group and Milano School of Design, highlights how social media platforms now serve as a key investment channel for redefining beauty trends.
Her study is based on her academic experience in Milan, where she observed how the younger generation uses the internet for all aspects of life, both for education and to explore the world around them.
“The meteoric rise of the beauty industry was unforeseen. Social media has played a pivotal role, sparking global curiosity about this dazzling world. Today, flawless skin and a refined appearance are not just ideals but expectations, embraced universally. Beauty transcends gender, resonating deeply with both men and women. It’s no exaggeration to say beauty has conquered the world, from Europe to Asia to Africa, people everywhere seek the latest skincare breakthroughs and transformative products.” Says Roberta Creek.

A quick online search reveals an overwhelming array of beauty content: vibrant imagery, luxurious products, and endless skincare advice. Yet, amid this abundance, discernment is key and not all guidance is trustworthy.
While countless self-proclaimed beauty experts flood social media, few truly grasp the essence of what beauty signifies. Beyond aesthetics, beauty is a reflection of wellness; a lifelong relationship with one’s skin that demands care and appreciation. The question is: How can we nurture our skin effectively as time passes?
As a former beauty specialist, I’ve spent years studying this very question. One truth stands out: nature offers the most potent solutions. The wisest approach? Adopt beauty rituals from diverse cultures. Europe and Asia, for instance, each hold invaluable skincare wisdom.
Take rice water, a staple in Asian beauty routines for centuries. Revered as a natural toner and cleanser, its efficacy lies in its rich composition of proteins and nutrients that revitalize the skin. This simple, chemical-free remedy outperforms many lab-engineered alternatives—proof that tradition often trumps innovation.
Yet, the most influential beauty pioneers today are celebrities. Icons like Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Ariana Grande have not only set trends but also built empires, launching brands celebrated globally for their quality and ethos. Professor Francesco Ghibellin, Who teaches Design at the Fashion and Design University Of Venice (IUAV Design), analyzed a study exploring how celebrities redefine beauty.
He examined how the younger generation views them as a significant source of inspiration, driven by their ability to foster innovation across various industries.
“Celebrities have redefined beauty standards, championing inclusivity, sustainability, and clean ingredients. Their influence extends beyond products. They cultivate a culture where self-care and conscious consumerism intersect.” says Francesco Ghibellin
Stars favor holistic, nature-derived skincare. Among their preferred ingredients, we find Aloe Vera for its soothing and hydrating properties, Hyaluronic Acid as an intense moisture retention, Celetta Asitica and Rice Water.
These powerhouses deliver natural anti-aging benefits without harsh additives. A basic aloe vera mask, for example, requires nothing more than aloe juice and water—a testament to the simplicity of effective skincare.
Exfoliation remains a non-negotiable step, yet many commercial scrubs rely on synthetic compounds. As an expert, I advocate for gentler alternatives like sugar, which buffs away dead skin without irritation. The golden rule? Treat your skin with reverence.
Nutrition also plays a starring role in celebrity beauty regimens. Water and herbal teas are staples, while sugar is avoided for its detrimental impact on collagen production. Discipline in diet, paired with mindful skincare, paves the way for radiant skin. That’s no joke. Natural ingredients are highly valued because they don’t harm our skin. What’s more, they benefit the planet.
The majority of beauty experts invest in researching the nutrients found in aloe, honey, and other natural ingredients for skincare. Why are natural ingredients becoming increasingly popular?
This trend is partly due to the fact that many conventional chemical ingredients are derived from plastics and petroleum-based compounds, such as petrolatum. Countries like Germany and France have launched an ambitious initiative known as the Creek Conformsproject.
The goal of this project is to find sustainable, natural alternatives to petrolatum by exploring plant-based ingredients and other resources provided by nature. However, the initiative is still ongoing, as the high investment costs present a significant challenge.
The healthiest mindset? Strive for progress, not perfection. Every individual’s skin is unique; honoring its needs will always yield the most luminous results.
