In an era defined by the relentless scroll of the Instagram feed and the ephemeral nature of digital content, the act of taking a photograph with intention has become a radical proposition. This tension between the “frenetic reality” of modern media and the deliberate gaze of the artist is the beating heart of Push Plus One, a major new retrospective by acclaimed fashion photographer Bill Georgoussis.
Opening on January 17, 2026, at the K-Gold Temporary Gallery on the island of Lesvos, this exhibition offers more than just a glossy look at high fashion; it is a study of a 30-year career that bridged the tangible magic of analogue film and the infinite stream of the digital age.

A Career Spanning the Capitals
Curated by Nicolas Vamvouklis, Push Plus One traces Georgoussis’s trajectory from his roots in Melbourne to the fashion capitals of the world. Georgoussis belongs to a rarefied tier of professionals- specifically among the Greek diaspora – who navigated the golden age of print publishing to establish a lasting international presence.
With a portfolio that includes seminal contributions to Dazed & Confused, i-D, Purple Fashion, Arena Homme+, and Vogue editions worldwide, Georgoussis has lived and worked in Milan, Paris, New York, and London. Yet, despite the glamour of his résumé, his practice remains deeply grounded in his Fine Art training at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
Silence in the Noise
The exhibition’s central narrative is one of resistance against “content overproduction.” Where the modern industry demands volume and velocity, Georgoussis offers silence and selection.
“In contrast to this frenetic reality, Georgoussis’ practice is grounded in a more contemplative pace: fewer shots, more carefully considered, with an emphasis on observation, simplicity, and the essence of things.”
This ethos is evident in the curated works, which highlight the artist’s pursuit of the “essence of things.” Viewers will encounter a mix of iconic editorial work alongside previously unseen archival material, showcasing a vocabulary that reshaped the aesthetics of the industry during its most pivotal technological transition.
The Studio Deconstructed
Perhaps the most intriguing element of Push Plus One is the invitation to step behind the lens. Moving beyond the traditional gallery format, Georgoussis has created a participatory installation that deconstructs his creative process.
By placing personal objects, technical equipment, and analogue experiments in dialogue with the finished images, the exhibition demystifies the glamour of fashion photography. It reveals the tactile, mechanical, and deeply personal labor required to capture a moment of beauty before it vanishes.

A Cultural Beacon in the Aegean
The hosting of such a significant retrospective further cements the reputation of K-Gold Temporary Gallery. Founded in 2014, the gallery has become a vital cultural hub in the Aegean, bringing contemporary art to broad audiences and fostering international mobility through the Miramar network.
Accompanied by a bilingual catalogue designed by the award-winning creative agency Marlon Tate, Push Plus One is not merely a look back at fashion history—it is a challenge to look closer at the present.
