Mirage is an optical phenomenon that occurs naturally when light beams bend due to refraction and form a misplaced image of distant objects or the sky. The word derives from the French word “mirer,” which comes from the Latin word “mirari,” which means “to look at, to wonder at.”
After a year away, VICTORIA / TOMAS returns to the physical Fashion Show for the Spring/Summer 2022 season. The brand sought to make this more than just a presentation by collaborating with a variety of artists from various backgrounds.
The neon pink inflatable pyramid in the catwalk’s centre serves as the collection’s main inspiration. It is the result of artist Cyril Lancelin’s creativity and highlights the concept of Mirage. His art, which combines digital and physical elements as well as the utilisation of discarded materials, complements Victoria and Tomas’ vision.
Edward Crutchley’s surrealist prints, all decorated with Linda Farrow glasses, join this vibrant vision. Under the frenzied beat of Lewis Ofman’s live performance, the sand, khaki, and greige colours evoke the stillness of a desert, into which tonnes of neon colours rush.
