Nestled within the ornate Mansion House – Walbrook, Paul Costelloe presented his Spring/Summer 2023 collection. The show began with a single model, dressed in black, walking down the runway of the “Egyptian Room” with a slow and poised gait. The silhouette and ambiance demonstrated Costelloe’s respects to the recent passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II – a historical event which impacted a significant portion of London Fashion Week. This beginning, however, comes at no surprise as Costelloe is no stranger to royalty. In 1983, he was appointed as personal designer to Diana, the Princes of Wales, until her passing.
Costelloe’s show then continued with striking, colourful silhouettes. Adorned with blonde bob cuts and rich make-up, the models breathed life into Costelloe’s collection. The juxtaposition of the first model to the remaining collection demonstrated that life in Britain will continue with beauty, class, and excitement. This event in history merely marks a new beginning. And perhaps for Costelloe’s 38th catwalk at London Fashion Week, this will be remembered by the weight of its time.
To date, Costelloe continues to develop his collections in central London.
