Music and rhythm are an important part of daily life in Colombia. Colombian people have created over one thousand unique rhythms and over 150 music genres. Colombia’s cohabitation of indigenous, European, and African peoples has resulted in a rich and distinct culture that is still apparent in people’s daily lives today. Colombia is a cultural powerhouse in Latin America, the southern hemisphere, and the world, creating literary giants. Music is no different, with many superstars hailing from this little island nation. The country is home to some of the rare raw talents like Dalma Daniela.
Dalma Daniela is a well-known Colombian actress, rock singer, radio and TV personality, and digital artist. She has covered a long journey before reaching where she stands today. Born on September 13, 1991, in the city dubbed as the Golden Gate of Colombia, Barranquilla, Daniela rose to prominence when she started performing and conducting cultural shows in Colombia and created an Art show called “Entre Notas y Arte” along with Barranquilla’s Museum of Modern Art. She embarked on her journey to make a name for herself as a raw, multifaceted talent. She has explored many opportunities and is expected to appear in the upcoming 2023 independent films The Sovereign and Lime & Vinegar.
Daniela studied communication and media studies at Universidad Autónoma del Caribe but left out after the second semester. After moving to the US, she earned the educational equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 2022.
Before making her way into the industry, Daniela began her career as an English teacher and translator when she was only 15. Colombia is a country where more than 99.5% of the population speaks Spanish. However, English is the official language on the Colombian Islands of San Andres Providencia and Santa Catalina due to its importance to the local culture. Since Daniela was born in Barranquilla, where most people spoke Spanish, it came as a challenge for her to learn English.
While many new tools have been introduced to learn English in the current age of technology, these tools were rarely found back in the day. When it came to learning English, Daniela focused more on watching movies and listening to music to learn it when she was only 12. Her dedication, passion, and learning English set her off on a career path of teaching English just three years later when she was 15.
The shift to event planning and coordination
It is no surprise that Colombia’s cuisine is exciting and enticing, ranging from delicious desserts and typical traditional dishes to locally produced international food. With so many restaurants opening, the competition among restaurants is aggressive, which requires a bullet-proof restaurant marketing plan. When it comes to marketing a restaurant, the role of the promoter becomes very important. Booking private groups is considered an effective strategy to boost revenues and build a strong customer base. In 2013, TGI Friday hired Daniela as a senior events coordinator. Her role was to organize reservations and events to promote restaurants with local businesses.
Inspiring, exciting, and empowering the audience
A museum keynote speaker is sometimes referred to as an educator, docent, or tour guide. These people are in charge of giving educational tours or speeches to museum visitors. They may specialize in a certain area of history or art and utilize their knowledge to improve visitors’ museum experiences. An engaging keynote speaker can inspire, excite, spark, and even empower an audience. The keynote speaker might be an event’s primary attraction, headliner, or star. While working with TGI Fridays, Daniela was also the cultural coordinator and keynote speaker at the Museum of Modern Art of Barranquilla. She created, managed, and organized the art exhibition “Entre Notas y Arte,” a musical showcase in which she presented cultural lectures and presentations about notorious pop culture figures, bands, and musicians of the twenty-first century while working at the museum.
Making appearances on Colombian Television
She has appeared in various Colombian TV shows, including ‘Love Motel’ and ‘Contacto Online’ on Telecaribe. She has released several songs, such as Rain of Love and Regálame un Like. Daniela has researched and studied creative leadership, filmmaking, self-expression, and authenticity. Daniela is a social media strategist and YouTube host for iVisa as of 2023. She also has over 35,000 Instagram followers and operates a personal brand.
In a nutshell, Dalma Daniela is a fully bilingual digital marketer and passionate about culture. Her extensive experience working for companies, brands, and agencies has made her make a name for herself in each industry she has ventured into.
