Gauchere Fall-Winter 2023: Minimalist, Wearable and Ultra-Cool

Marie-Christine Statz, the creative director behind Gauchere presented the brands collection once more at the Passage des Jacobins in Paris during the Paris Fashion Week. The choice of the location to present the winter collection, in the middle of Paris, where all kind of people meet to have lunch or to grab a coffee, reflects the idea behind the continual direction of Gauchere to focus on the person wearing the garments, making the clothing wearable and to help the wearer to actively participate in life while wearing the garments of the collection. The French prêt-à-porter house founded in 2013 by Statz with the purpose to create garments that point out the individual and to create clothing that is versatile and that is changing depending on who is wearing it, as the person wearing the garment is part of the look for Gauchere.

Gauchere is one of the brands on the Paris Fashion Week calendar that is aiming for a certain kind of anonymity while being recognisable at the same time, with a toned-down colour palette of different shades of grey, light brown, cream, black and white enhanced by a bright green print that Marie-Christine Statz took from an untitled work that was painted in 2022 by Camille Henrot.

The precise silhouettes of the winter collection are merged with classic Italian menswear pinstripes, heavier fabrics, volume and pleats. Washed-out grey denim jackets and trousers accentuate the DNA of Gauchere. The result is a timeless and ultra-cool collection of 38 looks that is chic enough to be worn in Paris but also cool and alternative enough for Berlin.
