Brooklyn-based Helena Eisenhart and NYC-based label Rentayage introduced their latest sustainable FW23 collections at New York Fashion Week.

Helena Eisenhart FW23

Brooklyn-based independent queer designer Helena Eisenhart made their NYFW debut with their Fall Winter 2023 collection.

Helena’s  collection integrated  up-cycled and deadstock materials, creating a unisex collection that deconstructs traditional uniforms and dress codes. Each look represented how the rules of dressing can be both powerful tools of distinction and identity, but can also be used to control and deceive. The collection continued the brand’s exploration of identity, questioning what it means to use garments as a means of conformity while showing that rules are ultimately meant to be broken.

From vinyl mesh screens found at construction sites to knits made from cassette tape, the collection focused  on creating sustainable designs, using upcycled vintage fabrics and trims in the garments and accessories.

Rentrayage

NYC based sustainable label Rentrayage presented their Fall Winter 2023 presentation during New York Fashion Week. Designer Erin Beatty, formerly of SUNO, aimed to emphasize the need for connection amongst tumultuous times, a sentiment reflected in the unexpected mixing of fabrics and melding of vintage garments into something new and exciting.

Known for their reworked and upcycled iterations from sweatpants to blazers, the collection explored the mending of differences in new ways.
