About Pilar Agueci
Pilar Agueci is a goldsmith making contemporary jewellery in her bright Montreal studio. Her experience growing up in a professional metal shop has influenced her technique, choice of tools and materials. This experience is seen in the quality of her work combined with her use of nonconventional finishes. The development of her pieces is rooted in the fundamental principles of design. Pilar strives to embrace a variety of techniques and to learn their distinctive qualities. She was taught by Noel Guyomarc’h not be limited by her technical skills, but to embrace them as a vehicle for producing jewellery that is unique and true to her.
Pilar Agueci was born in Canada in 1984 and has a Bachelor of Design from the Ontario College of Art and Design. Following graduation, Pilar was resident artist at the Glasgow School of Art. She studied at renowned institutions such as Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School and with Ruudt Peters. Pilar has had the opportunity to refine her technical skills working for notable contemporary jewellers, most recently Janis Kerman.
