Top Recommendations by Chef Jeremie Falissard

Paris Fashion Week is a key event on the global fashion calendar, attracting designers, celebrities, and industry professionals to the French capital. The week is filled with runway shows, parties, and other events, leaving little time for attendees to explore the city’s culinary scene. To help navigate dining options, Executive Chef Jeremie Falissard has provided his top recommendations for restaurants in the vicinity of Paris Fashion Week venues.

Jeremie Falissard is currently the Executive Chef of Groupe Barroco in Montreal, Canada. He oversees culinary operations across seven different restaurant concepts within the group. Born in Paris to parents engaged in artistic professions, Falissard moved to a small town in southern France during his childhood. He entered the culinary field as a teenager with an apprenticeship at L’Amiral and later gained experience at renowned establishments like Septime, Clamato, and Lyle’s in France and the UK. His culinary style is a modern reinterpretation of classic French cuisine, with a focus on seafood and vegetables.

Falissard has received formal culinary training at CFA des Arcs in France and holds a certification from the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (VPN) Americas in Los Angeles, which he employs at Fugazzi, Groupe Barroco’s artisanal pizza restaurant. Currently participating in the 14th season of Top Chef France, he resides in Montreal with his family.

Despite the fast-paced and often traditional nature of the restaurant industry, Falissard briefly left to work as a barman in London before settling in Montreal. There, he pursued his culinary interests by opening a restaurant that reflects his love for French classics, presented with a contemporary flair.

If you’re attending Paris Fashion Week and find yourself with limited time to enjoy the local dining scene, Jeremie Falissard’s expert recommendations offer a curated guide to some of the best eateries near event locations.

Where should people start their day with breakfast or coffee in the area?

Jeremie: Tapisserie Patisserie located in Saint Germain is excellent. It’s led by the same team behind Septime and Clamato which are two other restaurants I frequent when I am in Paris. The maple tart alone is worth the visit.

What is your favorite place for a leisurely lunch in the area?

I love stopping by Bistrot Paul Chêne for a long lunch. It’s located in the 16th and is an establishment that embodies classic French cuisine that always has a buzzy ambiance. Sit on the patio, order a glass of wine, and don’t skip the prawns cooked in Pastis.

What is a good place for a fun dinner in the area?

Verde is just off the Champs Elysées and serves Mediterranean-inspired tapas in a space that is bold and always packed. It sometimes has live music and DJs making it a perfect spot for a lively group dinner where you feel entertained but are also served excellent food. We like to make a reservation on the later side and stay for the night – their cocktails are really good – always a vibe.

Best Place for Cocktails

I love going to Le Bar at the Hotel Plaza Athenée – one of Paris’ most iconic 5-star hotels in the 8th. The bar is stunning and a good place for people-watching with a drink in hand. While it’s known as one of the world’s best champagne bars, the cocktails shouldn’t be overlooked. They’re named after different music genres and there’s always something new to try. Le Bar stays open a bit later too so you can go for a drink and stay for a night out.

And there you have it – a curated culinary guide to Paris during one of its busiest times: Fashion Week. Whether you’re looking for a sweet start to your day, a leisurely lunch, or a vivacious evening out, Chef Jeremie Falissard has your back. Remember, amidst the hustle and bustle of runway shows and the dazzle of high fashion, there’s always time to savor a bite or sip a drink, especially when in the culinary capital of the world.
