Maison de Hoe FW23 Lookbook

Designer Hanwei Su’s quest for self-awareness and her synthesis of Chinese and Western culture are reflected in the Fall/Winter 2023 collection for Maison de Hoe. She was inspired by her childhood recollections of rural China and her experiences living in New York City. It stands for

The concept of Maison de Hoe, which honours cultural diversity and the coming together of various worlds.

The collection honours the confluence of New York’s urban lifestyle and rural China’s countryside. The FW23 collection includes these rustic features into the structural design of the garments. These simple aspects of rural Chinese communities, such as windows and metal latches typically found on village gates, served as inspiration. It has a combination of leftover velvet, jacquard, and plaid fabrics in the tailoring, as well as old buttons that inspire nostalgia while supporting sustainability. Sharp lines and large shapes mirror the contemporary style and edgy attitude of New York City.
