Do you suffer from irritated, sensitive, and often dry skin? For people with sensitive skin or those that suffer from eczema or very dry skin, finding the right products can be very difficult.

Skin is like a sponge, and dry and sensitive skin will absorb soaps and cleansers, but become irritated by their chemical content, or even have an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients. Trying to find products that don’t irritate sensitive skin and eczema can be very difficult, and even products that say they are designed for sensitive skin types can cause irritation.

Here we are going to look at seven simple hacks for soothing dry, and irritable skin that should help people with all skin types get relief from itching and breakouts.

Always Clean and Cleanse at the End of the Day

Whether you wear makeup or not, no matter how you spend your day or what you do for a living, you need to take some time at the end of the day to clean and exfoliate your skin. This prevents toxins and irritants in the air from clogging your pores and causing you irritations.

Protect Your Skin from Sun Damage All Year Long

If you have sensitive skin, then you should use some form of sunscreen, even on a cloudy day. Too much sun is the number one cause of skin damage on the planet, and for sensitive skin types and fair skin tones, the sun can do damage quickly. Always have some sunscreen handy to protect your face and any exposed areas of skin.

Use Oatmeal and Oatmeal Based Products to Soothe Inflammation

For centuries, oatmeal has been a source of relief for people with skin problems, and now oatmeal-based skin care products are starting to dominate the skincare market. Like Herbal Dynamics Beauty mentions here, oatmeal is high in antioxidants and lipids, which help skin health itself and soothes dryness and irritation. Products that use colloidal oatmeal make great face masks.

Stay Hydrated – Moisturize from Within

Keeping your body well hydrated can be a great way to treat dry and irritable skin. The skin can draw from water supplies deep in your body, and it needs water to clean itself and rebalance after the stress of physical exercise. If you suffer from patches of dry skin, try drinking more water.

Turn Down the Heat in Your Shower or Bath Tub

A common cause of skin irritation and dryness is bathing or showering in water that is too hot and can actually dry your skin after washing. A hot bath or steam-filled shower may seem like a great way to exfoliate, but you need to let your skin cool down after a hot wash or its moisture will evaporate. Finish a hot bath or shower off with a minute or two of cool water showering.

Switch to Natural, Simpler Soaps and Washes

Many people who suffer from sensitive skin struggle to find products that don’t irritate or dry the skin, and can offer relief from irritation. Simple products with the fewest ingredients possible are the best to use, with natural ingredients. The chemicals and oils that can be added to products can cause a lot of skin irritation.

Use a Gentle Microfiber Cloth on Your Face, Instead of a Rough Towel

Drying yourself after a bath or a shower can, unsurprisingly, dry, and irritate your skin. Try switching to a soft, microfiber cloth to dry areas of sensitive skin or your face after you have bathed or showered. This simple hack can make a huge difference to your skin.

Sensitive and irritable skin can be very difficult to deal with, but hopefully, by using just a few of our simple and easy hacks, you can soothe your irritable skin and get some relief.
